This quest must have come across your mind that when the whole of Europe and America was crying for money and jobs Indians were enjoying their time with development rate of in and around 8 percent. How did this happen? It seems a miracle in the lands of a country where practical thinking is always neglected. While Europe and the western leaders were known for excellent practical policies ours were for impractical promises. But there must be something or the other which has worked in our favour and by God’s grace is still working to our perfection.
First and foremost credit has to be given to our industrialists. No doubt without their efforts creating jobs would have been a dream. Be it N.R. Narayanmurthy or be it Ambani brothers all were perfect in their deals. While our IT sector overdid the best in the world Reliance saw a growth rate of around 30% which deserves an applause from all quarters. And their policies are even brighter. While companies like Microsoft focussed on hiring selectively with good profiles our companies believed in what India is best at, generating manpower. They hired most believing in it and it did wonders. Not only did it assured for their growth in both fields monetary and technological it also provided our youth with plenty of jobs. Very few people know that all of TCS,Wipro,Infosys has more employees than Microsoft.
Secondly our government also played an important role specially our finance minister who was responsible for managing all the agenda of our country. But wait a second I felt till now that only women are behind a man’s success. Here its he and not she, Dr Manmohan Singh, our prime minister. Who can forget this great economist. Today he is not directly involved in setting our agenda towards economy but who can forget his brilliance way back in 1994 when he revived India from such a financial crisis. And his work behind the scenes this time is as good as the last time. Media always shows the shortcomings of his government but their achievements also needs to be acknowledged well, afterall media isn’t perfect either.
Thirdly and lastly some credit has to be taken by us as well. Our culture also was a factor. Right from childhood our culture has taught us to save and spend less. Now even in the crisis we were better than our counterparts in saving and knowingly or unknowingly kept our money in our pockets and leading towards money in our country and whatever was brought in was a benefit!!
